[Bug-gnubg] underscores in the .po file

I am working on the icelandic localisation of gnubg and I have a question 
to ask.
What do underscores in the .po file mean?  For example:

msgid "/_File/_New/_Game"

Do they relate to keyboard shortcuts or do they have another function.

The localisation is going well, approx. 10% translated so far.  I was 
thinking I would submit a first edition at 50% unless you would rather I 
wait until it is complete.
