Item Group: Other bug
Category: Graphical User Interface
Release: 0.13-devel
Build: 030521 CLog 1.1083
Platform Version: Windows 2000
Severity: 3 - Ordinary
Status: Closed
Assigned to: thyssen
Priority: 3 - Low
Resolution: Fixed

Summary: Incorrect link to bug report page

Original Submission: The link on the Help menu dispplays the bug list
http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?group=gnubg

rather than the bug reporting page
http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?func=addbug&group=gnubg

This may be intentional on your part to get people to check the extant bugs
before they submit, but it's not immediately obvious what to do next.

It would be ultra-cool if GnuBg automatically filled in the Build and Release
details. It must have them 'coz it displays them.

Could it even set the version? Probably not since the same build works on
different platforms.

With respect to the per-fill of fields: I've opened a support request on
savannah:

Yes, it was my intention to redirect to the "browse" page.

I've added some text in bold on the submit bug page. The text includes a link
to the "browse" page, so hopefully submitters will check before they report a
duplicate bug.

With this change it should be OK to change the link.

To the first point please write a message to the mailing-list. I don't know
whether it was Joern's intention or not.

Pre-filling in the form is more of an HTML question. I've tried with e.g.

http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?func=addbug&group=gnubg&category_id=105&priority=Normal&custom_tf1=030526&details=test+text

thus pre-setting some values. But the form still gets displayed the same way,
in both Mozilla and IE.
