040617 Bugs. Changelog 1.1612.

1. The program opens with an empty board. The chequers are in the finish
trays instead of in the usual starting position.

Someone asked for this, so I put it in. The idea being that it's clearer that no game is in progress when you start.

2. At Start New Game, the dice roll but the chequers do not appear on the
board, except:

        a) where the dice graphic rolls over where chequer is supposed to be

        b) where I guess they should appear and move a chequer over them,
e.g.:
                1) 64 played 24/14 reveals 2 chequers on the 19 point and 1
on the 17 point. Note that I cannot see the chequer I am moving until it has
landed at its new position (18 and then 14)

Looks like a problem with the 3d quick draw code, have you got this option set (and also set in the older installation)?

I thought it was related to the new start position but I couldn't recreate the problem here.

3. Cubing to end the game reveals the full chequer position, but the board
does not reset to the starting position, even when Start New Game is
selected. The new game merely continues from the ending position of the
previous game.

Does the position update if you resize the window?

I reverted to the previous version 040602 and it works fine. Switching back
to 040617 produces the problems listed above. I've done this three times,
with a system reboot in between. Running XP Home on a Pentium 4.

Do you use the same settings file for both versions?

Can you also try disabling your graphics card to rule that out:
Display properties->advanced->trouble shooting->hardware acceleration set to "none". Then start gnubg.
