Well it looks like the include file external.h should be defining the
type extcmd, so the very first error in compiling eternal_y.c should
not occur, All I can assume is that either your external_y.c is
different than mine or that your external.h is different.
I can't give any advice on Windows compiles, as I don't run Windows
