My first guess would be the graphics card driver, second guess would be a Vista
openGL problem.
Have a look to see if there is a new driver for your card, also you can try to
find the graphics card properties and reduce/disable the (3d) hardware
acceleration setting.
I've got very little experience with Vista so you may well be stuck with a 2d
board for now.
