Probable causes of this observation are:
The Jacoby rule is active, so gammons don't count unless the cube has been
turned.
You are playing a match, and only 1 point is needed to win the match.
Gammons become irrelevant; there is no difference in winning a 5-point
match 6-0 or 5-0, 6-4 or 5-4.
