I do still actually follow these lists occasionally ;)
regex.c and regex.h haven't been updated in about a year in gnulib's
repo, but have been updated in Emacs' repo - that is, the symlink is
broken.
rms' original idea when I proposed gnulib was that things should be
symlinked within the CVS repos, so that any new checkout would be
automatically updated, and that any project could fix bugs
transparently. regex.[ch] was the only bit to ever get this done to it.
Given that the symlink is broken, I would suggest *not* reinstating it
(although if we choose to do so, I still have ssh to subversion), and
deleting it from the root of the repo. IIRC, the Emacs regex.[ch]
interface is different that the one in glibc. Emacs should probably go
off on its own until it's ready to adopt the module system that gnulib
provides.
