It's the standard way of determining a function's prototype. At first sight,
it would be possible to use a single loop instead of a double loop by using
the prototype
int getsockopt (int, int, int, void *, $t *);
which has only 1 unknown parameter. But some systems like BeOS don't have
getsockopt() at all. Therefore I'm in favour of Albert's macro.
