Thanks. Your patch looks good.
It'd be great if you could write a ChangeLog entry.
You'd get even more karma for adding a test program to
demonstrate the fix: i.e., the program would fail on aix-5.3
when linked to the old version, yet would pass when linked
to the new getloadavg function.
Sorry about the delay. I expect to apply your patch right
after coreutils-6.10, which is now waiting for automake-1.10.1.
