[Bug-gnupod] I missed the FAT32 reformatting of my iPod by 12k

Hi !

I tried your method to reformat my iPod from hfs to fat32 to access it from 
Linux more easyly.

The backup firmware is 33554432 bytes long [jun  2 16:55 backup_firmware] or 
32768kb. When I put back the firmware on /dev/sda1 I had a message saying it 
was missing room but the partition was filled, missing I thing 12k!

Then I did the wrong thing, I unplugged the iPod and it tried to boot, stopping 
with an Apple on the screen. The backup firmware has these words at the 
beginning:

So the iPos tried to boot and stopped with a white Apple on the screen (my iPod 
is iPod photo 30 gb). All the buttons seem not to work, I cannot close the iPod 
nor read it on /dev/sda (unable to mount /dev/sda). I tried a fdisk /dev/sda to 
delete the 2 partitions and to give more room to /dev/sda1 and I got this 
message:

Incapable d'ouvrir /dev/sda
wich means Impossible to open /dev/sda.

Is there something to do before bringing it back to the store to reformat it?

Should I try at the office with win2000 and the supplied cdrom?

If I wait until the battery is discharged, connecting the iPod should conduct 
to the same behavior? ie trying to boot without success?

p.s. In fact it is my younger son's iPod, he only has Linux Debian (Sarge) on 
his box; my machine has Mandrake 10.1, Slackware 10 and Debian Sarge.
