Yes, Apple broke the Firmware again ;-)
The old limit for a Path was 64 chars. For unknown reasons, Apple
changed this to 55 chars.
It's easy to fix:
Just change
> 'MAX_PATHLENGTH => 64'
..into..
> 'MAX_PATHLENGTH => 49'
in XMLhelper.pm.
After this change, *newly* added Songs should play fine.
I'm going to release GNUpod 0.98.2 in a few minutes. [1]
This Version will include the MAX_PATHLENGTH change.
It also includes a version of 'gnupod_check.pl' with the
new '--fixit' option.
Running 'gnupod_check.pl --fixit' renames files with a long
filename on the ipod into a shorter version.
