Hi,

I have an ipod (model = nano_3g) and i use it to listen to podcasts.
Since it is my first ipod I may be a little verbose.

New podcast items are marked with a little blue ball in front of them
and a podcast playlist is shown with that little blue ball if it
contains at least one item that is new.

Podcasts items on the ipod are marked as already played (no more blue
ball) when I listen to them for a bit (at least 2 seconds) before
skipping to the next item.

Now I noticed that most of the podcast items are marked as new again
each time I run mktunes.

I looked into that matter and it seems like the problem is not with
mktunes but with otgsync,

When otgsync decides about placing the played_flag it uses this code
line:

  el->{file}->{played_flag} = 1 if $el->{file}->{playcount};

The playcount on the ipod however only seems to be incremented when
I let the ipod play the end of a podcast, letting it jump to the next
item in the podcast playlist by itself. At least thats the way I can
make gnupod mark the podcast item as played.

cheers
-henrik
