Is the addon page updated and maintained by scripts or manually
curated, and how do you determine the integrity of the extensions you
recommend overtime?
I ask this because the developer of the "ReloadEvery" extension has
previously included a proprietary and rather intrusive spyware module
with and update to the extension in an effort to monetize his software
and violate his users' trust and privacy. It was eventually removed
after numerous complaints and bad reviews in the extension's feedback
area. The developer later stated that he was surprised that his users
would object to his violating of them and his belief that such actions
would be welcomed.
Even with this particular module being eventually removed, the threat
from such unscrupulous developers taking similar action in the future
and the GNU Project promoting them remains.
