I don't understand either, but you did say that it was exporting the
keys from Firefox that you were having trouble doing, correct?

If that's the case, the primary source of your problem would seem to
be Firefox.

As for the trouble you had copying your profile:

Based on this, I can't even tell if you "copied" the profile
correctly. For all I know, you might have just merged the contents of
.mozilla/firefox into .mozilla/icecat, which would of course have no
effect, because you would still have to choose the Firefox profile
rather than the already existing IceCat profile.

I'm not terribly knowledgeable about Firefox and IceCat; I'm just a
user. I have no idea whether or not I would be any help if I had more
information. But the point is, you can't just hurl all of the blame on
IceCat.
