You are right. pxegrub should have code that restores resources
consumed by a PXE ROM. The API is well-documented in the PXE
specification, so I think it wouldn't be difficult to implement that
code basically. The reason I say "basically" is that I hear that not
all PXE ROMs follow the spec completely. Thus, I guess that
try-and-errors would be necessary for the investigation.
