I stumbled across this problem, too. It was a while ago, and I got
along by hiding the extended partition instead of the logical volume.
However doing so required to implement a hidden extended partition.
Doing this was a simple change of a #define checking partition types.

When you are writing, that now it is easy to implement, you probably
think of someone, who ist at lease somewhat familiar to the code. If
noone volunteers to do this job, I could try my luck on it in about two
weeks, when I am back from holliday.
