there was a typo in the Makefile which broke xfs support and numrious
other things. 0.91-2 in debian has the fix. which should go into woody
soon. or you can grab the package from sid.

This is a debian woody laptop with 1 ide disk.
the package from woody said this when i tried to install - must be a packaging problem?

I probably should have put at the top of my mail that I switched to
the sid version of the package.

but an unusual situation remains (see the previous mail for output of commands)
    grub-install fails
where running
    grub
    root (hd0,4)
    setup (hd0)
    quit
succeeds.

I still see a message like

Error 6: Mismatched or corrupt version of stage1/stage2

Whenever I try to boot using a menu.lst with a "savedefault" in it...
To boot I must (e) edit the menu item
(d)delete the savedefault line and
(b) boot
