Windows XP on second HD

i'm not able to boot Windows XP from a second hard drive.

i'm using grub 0.91.

i'm using 'map' to swap hd0 & hd1.  It gets through the boot a little
bit and then shows a kernel panic.  Next time it boots, it asks whether
to boot into "Safe Mode" but then it panics the same way.

This is probably hopeless.  i'm going to reorganized my partitions
so everything in on the primary HD.
