How turn OFF LBA in grub? Major BUG? |

Dear folks,
I have a hard disk that is set up in the BIOS with LARGE instead of LBA. If I
change it to LBA, then a grub boot floppy can read the file systems before
booting. Otherwise, it cannot. If I change to LBA though, I get copious
warnings from fdisk about bad alignment of partitions, and Windows cannot boot.
I can boot this system using LILO with the linear option.
I have searched the archives: a number of people have asked about similar
problems, but have all received no actual answer.
So--LBA is not the answer to everything, and sometimes it needs to be turned
off. How to do this with grub?
