Grub will not boot FreeBSD 5.1

I have installed grub 0.93 on my Debian 3.0r1 Linux system. I put grub on to
a floppy to try it out, installed under /boot/grub. I built a menu.lst file
to allow me to boot to my Win98, RedHat7.2 and SuSe7.2 partitions, as well
as my FreeBSD 5.1 slice. 

On startup, grub presents me with the selection list, and I can successfully
boot into any of the choices, except FreeBSD. When that is selected, grub
goes to the designated drive and partition( my second hard drive, 1st
partition), then immediately returns with the message "Filesystem type
unknown, Partition type 0xa5". This, of course, _is_ the partition type of a
FreeBSD slice. I don't understand why grub thinks it can't boot this type of
partition. I even went to the trouble of downloading and compiling grub 0.93
from source to see if the precompiled version I had was broken. This didn't
help either.

For your information, the FreeBSD stanza in my menu.lst is:

title  FreeBSD
root   (hd1,0,a)
kernel /boot/loader

I would appreciate any help you can give me in getting grub to boot my
FreeBSD installation. Thanks in advance.
