Summary: Booting w2k through GRUB with gfxmenu hangs w2k

Original Submission: Hi,
my SiS-based notebook (Asus L3500D) shows the following misbehavior:
When w2k is booted via GRUB, there is a 50% chance that the system hangs at the
moment where the grafik is switched over to XGA - the screen stays black.
This problem does not occur when the menu command is used instead.
