FWIW it hangs for me too. I've never been able to use Grub properly with
the Windows 98 install on my 2nd HDD on my home desktop system. I used to
have a VIA KT266 motherboard, where Grub would boot Windows but the extended
partitions were invisible. Since upgrading to an EpoX 8RDA3I I get the hang
instead. I've tried everything you suggested for Jason.

Could it be something else, other than the motherboard or BIOS, at fault
here? Perhaps the HDD itself? It checks error-free and works well under LILO,
otherwise.
