Summary: grub doesn't get along with grub
Original Submission: If I dual boot a computer with 2 versions of linux that
use GRUB, it is not a very simple thing to configure them.
If I install GRUB on /dev/hda for os 1, and install GRUB on /dev/hda2 for os 2,
I cannot use chainloader +1 in the grub.conf file for the grub on /dev/hda. I
know this is not the most elegant solution, but from the documentation this
should definitely work.
On the wish list side, I think it would be nice if the grub installer had a way
to get configuration information from a previously installed grub. I know this
is partly an operating system issue and not a bootloader issue, but it would be
helpful if there was a grub utility that the operating systems could use while
they are being installed. It is somewhat embarrassing that 2 versions of linux
take special manual configuration to dual boot.
