Countdown appears only randomly

Hello,

 

I´m using a HD Installation of Knoppix 3.9 with GRUB 0.95 . There is only one System to boot,

but I prefer to display the menu in cause of using other applications for Hardware Testing in the

future.

 

So here is my Problem : The Countdown appears only randomly, theres no concrete reason for

this (I guess)

 

My menu.lst is generated by GRUB like the other config files. Now I decided to choose GRUB 0.97 (Standard Official Version),

I´ve installed it successfully but theres still no countdown. Mostly everytime I´ve to press ENTER to

boot my system.

 

Is this a known bug ? Anybody got a reason?
