yes... menu.lst is identical to grub.conf....
found a similar bug/situation (searching with google for grub +
countdown)... it seems there are some BIOS leaving symbols in the
keyboard queue while booting... that may be the problem....
(btw1... I just sent the bug report to bug-grub.... and had no idea the
mail was posted in a newsgroup, I found my own mail and adrian15
response by pure chance.... i.e. with the same google search above...
btw2... not knowing this I just posted a bug on the grub site)
