I'm not very sure but Adam's patch I think it does what you're looking for 
with numbers. I think that if you type the number of the entry it boots it. 
I've applied Adam's patch to Super Grub Disk so you can download it (cdrom 
version) and try it to see if I am wrong or right.

(The thing is that I've seen it on his source code but I've never actually 
tested it because I'm too much arrow-centred)


Wouldn't you like to be a Super Grub Disk French translator?

P.D.: Be careful because I think that the stage2 and stage1.5* files that 
you will find on my cdrom are not from my patched Adam Grub but from 0.97 
only. Just in case you wanted to copy them... but as always you can try it.
