Hi list,

hope I'm right here for my request.

I'd like to have a serial console whether I'm booting a maschine with
or without the "new" IntelAMT. More precisely:
I've a system with an IntelAMT chip onboard - SOL enabled. In
grub.conf, the config line for it looks like: `serial --port=0xd500
- --speed=38400'
To have this system back up online as soon as possible in case of a
severe hardware failure, we just take the disks and attach them into
another machine - probably without an IntelAMT Chip. The problem know
is that the port as configured in the grub.conf is incorrect.

My question know is:
Is there a way to let grub auto-probe for the serial port? I.e. first
probing the pci busses for an IntelAMT Chip and falling back to the
normal serial port if no such chip was found? Maybe you could
implement it? How could I implement it?
Are there any issues with this approach I'm not aware of?

Any ideas / suggestions would be appreciated.
