No problem here (Salix 64 13.37 based on Slackware64 13.37).
You're probably lacking check dependencies. Definitely needed are qemu 
and parted, possibly others.

Apart from that I needed to setup a symlink from qemu-system-i386 to 
qemu with the slackbuild for qemu from slackbuilds.org.
You also need to be root. Maybe it's enough to add parted, ... to your 
path, didn't test.
