No problem here (Salix 64 13.37 based on Slackware64 13.37).You're probably lacking check dependencies. Definitely needed are qemu and parted, possibly others.
Apart from that I needed to setup a symlink from qemu-system-i386 to qemu with the slackbuild for qemu from slackbuilds.org. You also need to be root. Maybe it's enough to add parted, ... to your path, didn't test.

Hello, I encountered the errors listed in grub-error after running configure, make, then make check as root. My system is Slackware64 13.37, Linux kernel version 2.6.37, with GCC 4.5.2, binutils 2.21.51.0.6.20110118.
