Follow-up Comment #4, bug #34250 (project grub):

Following on from Pedro's comment, I opted for a workaround which I think is
more convenient. The 0.90 superblock is 4KiB in size and may begin at a
boundary up to 128KiB from the end of the partition. What I did was to ensure
that the end boundary of the final partition was decreased by 132KiB from what
it otherwise would be. This is easy to accomplish with GNU parted by
specifying a value of -264 for the end boundary. After doing so, I no longer
encountered the issue with grub-probe, even though the final partitions were
members of an array.
