I think doing both would be even better.  :-)

I'm not sure what the FSF thinks of licensing drawings under the GPL.

As for copyright assignment, I'm not sure the standard "assign for past
and future changes" form would be suitable here.  Could you email
address@hidden' and address@hidden' to get their input on this?

Most of the graphics at http://www.gnu.org/graphics/ do not have any
explicit license or copyright notice.  These ones [0, 1] are
dual-licensed under the GPLv3+/FDL, with copyright assigned to the FSF,
which seems like a good idea.

We'll have to make sure to add the logo to
http://www.gnu.org/graphics/package-logos.html afterward.
