Could you explain this part? E.g., did you run ‘wipefs -a’ to erase the old file system metadata? Partition tables do not specify file system information.
Guix can take responsibility only for its own drive partitioning code (which, by most accounts I've heard, could certainly be improved); otherwise it's the user's and/or tools' responsibility to correctly wipe the underlying data.
