I know.

(I tested this too - I would expected it to be the other way round.)

Yes, it should work. 

I still don't understand why using "pdf2dsc %s %s" fails?  It works on the
command line. (pdf2dsc is using "gs -DSAFER -DDELAYSAFER" by the way.)
