[bug-gv] Crash in recent versions of gv

I'm running gv on several slackware boxes.    I've been having trouble
with several recent releases, notably the most recent 3.7.3.90.  An
older 3.7.1 runs on the same platform without problems (i.e., using the
same libs e.g., libXt, that the newer version does).   I see:

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

on the console.  A backtrace of the corefile shows:
