Can you send a screen capture?
What version of ghostscript do you have?\
The gv preferences are in $HOME/.gv
Can you try renaming that file and opening gv?
If you updated Debian in-place or if you restored your $HOME, you might have an old $HOME/.gv that confuses the new gv.
