This is one of those moments where you can either
break down or suck it up and grind it out.
Time for a quick break. When you asked me to reopen
the car this morning, what did you need?
Quite the forest down here. This range is out there
a bit.
My family came out to see me. Then as he rode, he
put it all together.
Remember, the whole traverse thing with one car on
each side? My family came out to see me.
After that task was complete, I took one last
picture of Massive from outside of Leadville. This would probably have been cake
during the day but night adds an element to it. However, that little word "traverse"
was the kicker.
Gotta have keys to drive a car! I hate hiking in
trees.
Many people were stoked because this was their
first Olympic distance tri. As we start to descend back to the car, we cross this
spot.
You can see the people on the summit in the
distance.
This would probably have been cake during the day
but night adds an element to it.
That was the turn we missed in the dark. When you
asked me to reopen the car this morning, what did you need? Ah, the trailhead sign.
Ah, a little excitement.
Its just more rocks anyway. So I had to do a full
change and gear up. We rolled through town and looked for a place to eat and
possibly a place to stay. I overshot the last part of my turn. Then I got the tent
up and loaded in the gear. I did a couple practice swims over the last few weeks to
be sure I could still keep up with the big boys.
They edited out the part where Joanne made me flash
her on camera.
The GPS shows the car is less than a mile the way a
crow flies but we can't go that way. My brain was mentally reviewing our morning so
far and how we could have done better.
