I've never experienced such error. Google doesn't find anything too. Hmm, tough bug.
The file system seemed to be totally corrupted afterwards, this is a snippet from the e2fsck run:
Total corruption is something that I experience from time to time with original ext2fs. It looks like if all disk pager pages get corrupted and written to disk. But I have no idea why sometimes this happen.
For now, I can do nothing more than ignore this report :-( The patch doesn't add extra malloc/free except for initial allocation of its data structures, neither changes in some way usage of malloc/free in ext2fs.
