As people began asking me privately, let me clarify a thing or two here:
it's not that you'd just begin writing device drivers in Java. No
framework for user-space device drivers exists so far. This has to be
designed and impemented first, before writing device drivers in Java can
be attempted.
Also, I did not endorse the proposal to write device drivers in Java.
I'm not against it, either. I just picked up what I was presented with
in Alexander's email. I think that beginning with some tiny C language
examples will be easier as one is avoiding the not-yet-existing Mach /
MIG RPC call <-> Java interface.
If someone is still interested in working on this user space device
driver effort, then go for it!
