I have never been involved in that machine (before my time), but in
fencepost's /com/mailer/aliases, the following comment/rule can be found,
which indicated that it once was operational:

| # This is for users of the Hurd box called 'stampede'. 20020101 - jbailey
| stampede-users: jbailey, marcus, tb@becket.net, roland@frob.com, gray

Now, this is long ago, and if you GNU folks can't locate the machine's
hardware anymore, I would assume that it is safe to simply discard both
the DNS entry and the mail forwarding rule.
