I'm not sure if the support should be in lilypond. IIRC lily doesn't
use either hsize or vsize. Shouldn't the TeX wrappers do the switch?

That's strange. papersize is set to a4 in declarations-init. Then
there is
% DO NOT change this without fixing -f ps output
papersize = \papersize
(I don't know what this means. Jan?)
