we have some rudimentary spam filtering in place; among others,
it (still) seems to be triggered by attachments. DRL will be back
soon. Hopefully, he has some time to look into a better solution for

I did figure out it was the attachment. Thanks.
regarding the problem: I think you have to say "\\flat", or better
I mentioned I tried both \flat and \\flat.
still,
\markup { bla blah \flat }
No change. It makes the page wider and shifts the music to the right
and partially off the page .
