If I take the above input and do:

lilypond-book --output=out book.lytex
cd out
latex book
dvips -o book.ps book
ggv book.ps

...I see exactly nothing displayed on the page in ggv.  Printing it from
ggv gives me a set of staff lines with stems but no note heads or clef.
This is the same thing I see with xdvi.

Weird.
