If you go back to really ancient LilyPond versions, you can get an idea
of what the example looked like when it originally was written.
For this specific case, you can for example look at
http://lilypond.org/doc/v1.6/input/regression/out-www/lily-1117114626.ly
which also only shows one of the cases, but has a separate commented \score
block with the \onestaff version.
In those days, only the output of one score block was shown in the
on-line version
of the regression test document.
I don't see any reason to keep the one staff version of the example.

It certainly looks like this example is missing that... but I
don't see what it has to do with invisible barlines. Perhaps the
main text needs to be changed?
Or does "(invisible) barlines" refer to barlines at the end of a
system?
