For the first question, I don't know.

For the second question, you can always check git (or the shortlog web page  
at
http://git.savannah.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=lilypond.git). In this case, I only  
touched
lily/slur.cc, so it shouldn't conflict with your work (at least, that part  
of your
work that I'm aware of).
