http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=851I do not believe that these instructions are still relevant; the linked file says that it was last updated on 2006, and I see that texshop has lilypond scripts from 2010.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that any improvements here have been superseded by the later version of texshop/lilypond scripts.
