http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=982It turns out that pnmscale (or pnmtopng) sets the image's resolution to 72dpi. texi2pdf obeys this, so a 600 pixel image is rendered in the PDF at 8.3", which a) looks crap and b) is too big. The 2 options appear to be to 1) set the image size at 6" explicitly; 2) to use the larger image anyway, at possible cost to the size of the doc or 3) use imagemagick rather than pnmscale to resize the images.
