I'll push a commit shortly that ignores all whitespace at the begin of a line.

Currently, abc2ly assumes the order:
ACCIDENTAL NOTENAME OCTAVE DURATION SLUREND
So, your "a)>e" confuses abc2ly, because the ) is before the duration...
I haven't found anything about a possible order of elements in an abc file in
the specification.
