Thanks for forwarding this on, Trevor. I wasn't aware of this thread until now. 
Must be pretty irritating for Patrick!

If I understand correctly:
- Lilypond previously supported variable staff size within a book.
- This feature did not work properly i.e. there is a bug.
- There is a tracker for the bug, and the limitation is documented.

I don't see any action for the bug squad here, or have I missed something?
