You attached only the result of re-attempting autoconf, and nothing about
the m4 build.  Did you run 'make check' on the self-built m4?  I'm
assuming it passed.  When you rebuilt autoconf, did the build succeed?
There are no errors in the autoconf build log that you attached.  Either
this means that rebuilding m4 fixed your problem (and debugging why the
original version crashed is that much harder), or you didn't attach
everything.  If things failed, did you get a core file?  The logs for the
autoconf build show that it still picked up m4 as
s|@address@hidden|/opt/local/bin/gm4|g, did you install your rebuilt m4 over the
original one?  If not, then you need to build autoconf with './configure
M4=path/to/m4' to be sure you pick up your just-built version.
