Please always specify what platform you're using, as well as the version
of GNU make, etc.

By the error you're seeing I'm assuming you're running on a Windows
platform.  You might get more info on the address@hidden site.  Also
check the archives of that mailing list, and/or use Google; I believe
there has been a discussion of this error in the relatively recent
past.
