Thanks for reporting this. It is a common problem, IMHO a bug of the OS 
which should not intercept the function keys.

I'll allocate alternative key combinations to all the function keys. Do 
you have any suggestion about what the alternative key combinations 
could be? (Something like 'Ctrl-E + [1-90AB]' to mean F1-F12)?

This is probably because you are running moe on an UTF-8 terminal. Moe 
needs an ISO-8859 (preferably ISO-8859-15) terminal.
